Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural way of reducing, and possibly eliminating wrinkles, scars, skin pigmentation, open pores, sagging facial muscles, spider veins, stretch marks and sallow skin. The degree of success will depend on the severity and length of time with the condition.

Cosmetic acupuncture and topical Chinese herbs provide skin treatments that are totally non-toxic.

………… and we address the internal causes of the visible signs of ageing as well as the external with acupuncture for overall well being.

You will get to relax in a tranquil setting while the needles do their work.

Please note that (unlike the beauty therapy industry) advertising guidelines for registered acupuncturists do not allow before and after photos to be published on line or in any public domain.

How is it done?

You will be assessed for the causes of the aging as well as determining the changes you want to see in your skin.

Ruri Face Diagnosis shows the underlying causes so they can  also be addressed with all over body treatment.

By treating the underlying causes, the results can be longer lasting than other purely cosmetic procedures, and there will be none of the toxicity or pain associated with some of the other procedures.

Facial markings are mapped and analyzed.

Very fine needles will be inserted at the site of the wrinkle or scar and also at specific acupuncture points to help improve the tone of the muscles of the face.

Sagging facial muscles can be toned using specific acupuncture points.

Magnolia Natural Medicine Facial Muscles

Although the face is usually the main focus, other parts of the body can be treated also.

Scars, mild varicose veins, spider veins and discolorations can all be treated with acupuncture and topical herbs.

Magnolia-Natural-Medicine-AcupunctureVery fine needles are used and there is minimal discomfort (despite how it looks!)

For severely aging skin, many needles are needed for optimal results.

For minor aging, fewer needles are necessary.

You are left in a tranquil place with soft music playing, for 20 minutes while the needles do their work.

What Causes Skin Aging?

The main factors that cause skin aging and scarring are:

  1. Sunlight damage
  2. Natural breakdown of collagen and elastin
  3. Free Radicals
  4. Immune System Effects
  5. Hormonal imbalances
  6. Heredity
  7. Inadequate Dress coverage
  8. Occupational Sun Exposure
  9. Recreational Sun Exposure
  10. Diet
  11. Addictions – smoking, alcohol, drugs
  12. Type of occupation
  13. Negative Emotions
  14. Stress
  15. Lack of sleep
  16. Lack of, or too much exercise
  17. Surgery
  18. Injuries
  19. Pregnancy
  20. Rapid weight gain or loss
  21. Pollution

Of all the above causes, the most damaging are sunlight exposure and smoking.  Both of these are under our control.  But if the damage is already done, Chinese medicine can help repair the damage without the need for expensive, painful or toxic procedures that Western Medicine currently provides.

Please note that if you are a smoker, and continue to smoke,  the effects of the acupuncture will wear off sooner than normal.

And if you improve your diet and other lifestyle habits your appearance and well being will improve also.

How Does Cosmetic Acupuncture Compare with Western Procedures?

  1. There is minimal discomfort with the acupuncture compared to most of the standard procedures
  2. The effects are much longer lasting than most conventional procedures.
  3. The effects can be seen from the first session and improve with each session.
  4. One (15 treatment) course of acupuncture lasts up to 5 years.
  5. It is more cost effective than conventional procedures.
  6. It is the only cosmetic therapy that treats you on the inside as well.
  7. There are very few contra-indication for acupuncture, compared to the western procedures.

To be able to compare cosmetic acupuncture with Western cosmetic procedures, there is a brief summary of current western procedures below.

The Western Cosmetic Procedures available to reduce visible signs of ageing are:
